Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged theft and warrants on Thursday night.
An RPD report said at 7:10 p.m. 25-year-old Joey Dingus walked into a restaurant in the 1000 block of Northeast Stephens Street, went behind the counter, opened the till and allegedly stole $65 in cash. An employee recognized Dingus and followed him as he left as the passenger in a vehicle. The employee told dispatch that the car had stopped at a business in the 1600 block of Northeast Stephens Street and that the suspect was still inside the vehicle.
Officers arrived on scene and took Dingus into custody. During the investigation, dispatch confirmed that the man had two outstanding warrants. Dingus admitted to taking the money, which he was found in possession of. He was also reportedly found to be in possession of a violation level of methamphetamine.
Dingus was charged with third-degree theft and for both warrants. He was cited for the meth. Bail was set at $16,250.
