A Roseburg woman was taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle accident early Thursday.

An RPD report said just after 12:15 a.m. the 22-year-old was driving north on Northeast Stephens Street when she failed to negotiate the corner in the 2200 block. Her sedan left the roadway on the west side of Stephens, showing no signs of sign of braking, and crashed into the chain link fence along the road, through the bushes in the parking lot of a business.

In addition, the vehicle struck a utility pole guy wire belonging to Qwest in the bushes. The sedan sustained heavy front-end damage and the rear driver side axle was sheared off. Roseburg Fire Department responded and verified the pole was not damaged and was only communication lines.

The driver hit her head on something inside the sedan and was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for minor injuries. Speed and distraction are suspected of causing the crash.
