Roseburg Police jailed a man for second-degree theft following an incident Monday morning.

An RPD report said at approximately 7:30 a.m. officers contacted the 47-year-old in the 700 block of Southeast Stephens Street because he had a Fred Meyer shopping cart in his possession. The man was given numerous warnings regarding the theft of the shopping cart before he was taken into custody.

At the jail, deputies allegedly found a violation amount of methamphetamine in his possession. Bail was set at $6,250.
