The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Division is currently searching for a missing 68-year-old Sutherlin man.
Lieutenant Brad O’Dell said Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. Lynn Simmons left his residence in the 300 block of Justa Lane on foot. O’Dell said Simmons is legally blind and has mental health diagnoses. Simmons was last seen walking toward Nonpareil Road. He was known to be wearing a dark shirt and jeans. Simmons is 5 foot 11 inches and 170 pounds, with shoulder length graying brown hair and blue eyes.
O’Dell said deputies and volunteers are searching the area on foot and by air. Those living in the area are encouraged to review their surveillance footage for any signs of Simmons. O’Dell asked residents to check their sheds and other outbuildings as well, in case Simmons may be there.
Anyone with information is asked to contact DCSO at 440-4471.
DCSO is being assisted by Oregon State Police and Commissioner Chris Boice, who both have flown planes over the search area. Josephine and Jackson counties have provided search and rescue personnel as well.
