The Sutherlin Police Department is actively investigating a hit and run incident which took place Friday night.

Captain Kurt Sorenson said at 9:50 p.m. a 20-year-old Sutherlin resident was jogging in the 500 block of West Central Avenue. Sorenson said he was struck by a car at the intersection of Central and Oak Street. The man was treated at the scene and transported by ambulance to CHI Mercy Medical Center. Sorenson said the man was released on Saturday with non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle that struck the jogger did not stop to render aid and quickly left the scene. Sorenson said SPD is working to identify the vehicle and its occupants. The investigation is on-going
