Some of the hottest temperatures so far this year for the Umpqua Valley are expected over the next few days.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said a strong high-pressure system anchored in the desert southwest, which is bringing record high temperatures for that region, is extending northward and is slated to bring highs in the mid-80s to low-90s through at least Sunday. For Roseburg, this will be up to 15 degrees above the normal afternoon high temperatures for early June, which average around the mid-70s.
Friday is slated to be the hottest day of this period, with the mercery forecast to get to around 90 degrees in the Umpqua Valley. This could equal the hottest days of the year so far. Roseburg hit 91 degrees on both May 10th and 11th.
The Roseburg Regional Airport reported a high temperature of 82 degrees on Wednesday.
