FOREST SERVICE WAIVES RECREATION FEES FOR GET OUTDOORS DAY

The USDA Forest Service’s Pacific Northwest Region will be waiving entry fees at most day-use recreation sites in national forests across Oregon and Washington this Saturday, in celebration of National Get Outdoors Day.

An Umpqua National Forest release said the day aims to connect Americans with the great outdoors and inspire them to lead healthy active lifestyles. By waiving fees on this day, the Forest Service hopes to encourage the public to take advantage of the many recreational opportunities that are available on their national forests.

The fee-free day is in addition to several other no-fee days offered by the Forest Service. The remaining fee-free opportunities to experience the great outdoors this year are Juneteenth, National Public Lands Day and Veterans Day.
