ROSEBURG PUBLIC LIBRARY WITH SUMMER READING PROGRAM FOR ADULTS

May 31, 2024 3:30 a.m.

Roseburg Public Library’s Summer Reading Program for adults is back with more opportunities to read for fun and prizes.

A City release said the program begins on Saturday and continues through Saturday August 24th. It is made possible by the Friends of the Roseburg Public Library. A library card is not required to participate.

There are four ways to win prizes. First, there is a reading log with 30 prompts to guide participants. There are seven opportunities to read “a book of your choice” to provide readers some flexibility, and specific prompts include “a book exploring a topic you’re curious about” and “a book from the 800 section of the Dewey Decimal System”.

For each category completed, readers will be entered into a random prize drawing for one of the eight $25 gift cards to businesses located in Roseburg.

Reading logs will be available in person at the library and on the library’s webpage: https://www.cityofroseburg.org/departments/library/summer-reading-program. Logs must be returned in person to the library or emailed to: library@cityofroseburg.org by 2:00 p.m. August 24th to be eligible for prizes.

The release said it is not necessary to complete the entire log. Super readers who fill in at least 28 of the 30 categories may work on a second log. Audiobooks, physical books and electronic books may be counted.

For every five books completed on the reading log, patrons may choose a free book from the library’s giveaway cart, which is stocked with advanced reader copies of new, hot titles, and gently used donations. Participants may stop at the front desk with their log or email a picture of the log to: library@cityofroseburg.org.

Patrons may submit book reviews for a chance to win one of four $50 gift cards to a select local business.

The library will have a bonus opportunity every month to win a $25 gift card to a business in Roseburg. Information about the month’s activity will be posted in the middle of June, July, and August at the library and on its website and Facebook page.
