Roseburg School District has announced a switch to a new messaging tool.

An RPS release said ParentSquare will improve communications and engagement with families.

Superintendent Jared Cordon said the transition will start at the end of this school year, with ParentSquare taking the place of current One Call Now and Remind platforms. Cordon said parents and guardians will automatically receive alerts and messages sent from schools and the district but are encouraged to register for an account in order to participate in two-way communication and choose how and when they are notified.

The release said the district’s goal in switching to ParentSquare is to unify school-to-home communication platforms, helping ensure all parents have the opportunity to actively participate in their children’s education. Parents and guardians can sign up and register their account now on their computers or mobile devices.

Cordon said, “Effective school-to-home communication has never been more important, which is why the Roseburg School District adopted the ParentSquare communication platform”. Cordon said, “We’re looking forward to engaging and partnering with all our families to ensure the communications they receive from their schools and the district are meaningful and effective”.

Initial uses for ParentSquare in the district will include:

*Urgent/emergency alerts from school or district

*Attendance tracking

*School-to-home news and information

*Direct messages from teachers to families
