The Oakland School District Bond Levy is now ahead by just 6 votes after Unofficial Preliminary Results were updated at 5:00 p.m. Thursday by Douglas County Clerk Daniel Loomis.
485 voters are favoring the $4.5 million bond while 479 have cast a no vote. The proposal would help pay for replacing the partially condemned Washington School Gym with a flexible facility. If passed, a matching state grant would be added to the $9 million project.
The Oakland measure is the lone tight race in Tuesday’s balloting. No race or measure has seen its results changed with the updated ballots.
The current numbers show just over a 27 percent participation rate by county voters. According to the County Clerk’s Office, that is lower than recent past participation rates in May Presidential Primary elections. In 2020, about 41 percent of voters cast a ballot. Participation rates from May elections in 2016 and 2012 were just over 52 percent and nearly 50 percent respectively.
Unofficial Final Results will be sent to the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office on Wednesday, May 29th.
