A section of Northwest Edenbower Boulevard in Roseburg will close for two nights next week as work on a 24-inch water transmission pipe replacement project continues.
A City release said the closure will be between Northwest Aviation Drive and Northeast Stephens Street. It will close to all traffic between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. on Monday May 20th and Tuesday May 21st, as a contractor trenches about 100 feet across the intersection of Stephens Street and Edenbower Boulevard.
Traffic control signs will be in place to detour motorists around the closure. Traffic moving east on Edenbower Boulevard will be required to detour onto Aviation Drive to access Stephens Street. Westbound traffic will detour around the closure by using Northwest Stewart Parkway and Aviation Drive or using Hooker Road to Aviation Drive.
The work is part of a project that began Monday, March 11th to exchange 4,100 linear feet of 20-inch-diameter steel water transmission main pipe installed in 1934 with new, 24-inch-diameter ductile iron pipe in the southbound lane of Stephens Street between Isabell Avenue and Newton Creek Road. The project also has required weeknight closures of the southbound lane of Stephens Street.
The work is part of the fourth phase of a long-term project to replace 4.5 miles of aging water transmission pipe primarily in Stephens Street from the Water Treatment Plant to the Reservoir Hill Complex.
