May 1, 2024 3:40 a.m.

Ballots for the upcoming May Primary Election are going into the mail Wednesday, for registered voters in Douglas County.

County Clerk Daniel Loomis said ballots must be cast no later than 8:00 p.m. on May 21st. Loomis said local voters can use the US Postal Service, or any official drop site in Oregon to cast their ballot. Those using the USPS should mail their ballot at least one week in advance of the deadline to be safe. Loomis added some reminders:

*Registered voters who need to update their information, other than party affiliation, have until 8:00 p.m. on May 21st to do so.

*Recent registration changes may occur after ballots were printed and may cause a second ballot to be issued. This ballot will contain a blue slip of paper and is the correct ballot to cast.

*Registered voters that haven’t received their ballot by May 10th should contact or visit the clerk’s office

*Before turning in a ballot, make sure to review and complete both sides of the ballot

*Sign the ballot return envelope in the same manner as the most current voter registration card.
