DEputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office cited a 19-year-old Sutherlin man early Sunday.

A DCSO report said shortly after 12:00 a.m. a deputy responded to the 2300 block of Old Pioneer Road near Oakland after a caller said there had been a single vehicle crash. The SUV became completely engulfed and was located about 50 feet down a very steep embankment.

The driver showed signs of impairment and admitted to drinking 3 beers. The driver was transported to the hospital where he provided a blood alcohol sample of 0.03%. Due to the location of the crash, the vehicle was not towed.

The man was cited and released for DUII.
