The suspect in an early morning stabbing in Roseburg on Thursday was arrested Friday afternoon.
Sergeant Daniel Allen of Roseburg Police said 20-year-old Zane Everett Johnston was contacted by detectives in a parking lot in the 100 block of Sunshine Road at approximately 1:50 p.m. and arrested without incident.
Johnston was charged with first-degree assault, a felony count of unlawful use of a weapon, menacing and for a parole violation warrant. He was detained without bail.
At approximately 6:00 a.m. Thursday RPD responded to a reported stabbing in the 900 block of Northeast Willow Street. When officers arrived, they found a 50-year-old male victim who was injured due to a stab wound. Life-saving efforts began. The victim was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center before being taken to an out of area medical facility. He was in stable condition at last check according to RPD.
Investigators say that Johnston and the victim were known to each other prior to the stabbing.
