A Portland woman was charged with third degree theft by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.
A DCSO report said at approximately 5:15 p.m. two people were contacted in a pickup near the intersection of Toketee Rigdon Road and Thorn Prairie Road in the Umpqua National Forest. The woman, 34-year-old April Johnson had allegedly lied about her name. She was found to have a warrant for her arrest. Johnson was charged with theft, providing false information to police and for the warrant. She was detained without bail.
K9 Trapper was deployed around vehicle and gave a positive alert. The driver, a 43-year-old man from Saint Helens was found to be suspended. Inside his vehicle, allegedly one gram of methamphetamine was located. He was cited for third-degree theft, driving while suspended and driving uninsured.
No further information was released by DCSO.
