April 3, 2024 4:00 a.m.

The high temperature in Roseburg Tuesday tied for the hottest day of the year, but just missed a record high for the date.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said the mercury reached 80 degrees at the Roseburg Regional Airport. That tied with the 80-degree mark set on March 18th. The record high for April 2nd was 83 degrees, set in 1944.

While Tuesday was twenty degrees above the normal temperatures for early April, Forecasters said Wednesday will take “a complete 180” with high temperatures of near  50 degrees expected – a drop of 30 degrees or more from the day before, and ten degrees below normal. Rain with highs between 50 and the low 50s are forecast through Saturday. There will be a slight improvement on Sunday.
