IDLEYLD PARK MAN JAILED AFTER MONTHS LONG INVESTIGATION

March 4, 2024 4:00 p.m.

On Friday, detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team wrapped up a month’s long investigation that began in early December by arresting an Idleyld Park man on 16 charges.

Captain Kurt Sorenson said the investigation focused on the alleged sale of methamphetamine by 40-year-old Kyle Vatland. McArthur said over the course of the investigation detectives were able to generate evidence of multiple sales of meth by Vatland, all occurring at various locations in the Glide area.

At approximately 12:45 p.m. Friday, detectives concluded the investigation by arresting Vatland during a traffic stop in the 20,000 block of the North Umpqua Highway in Glide, with the help of a deputy from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Vatland was taken into custody without incident and detectives immediately executed a search warrant on his vehicle. McArthur said detectives allegedly located approximately 499 grams of suspected meth and a loaded 9mm handgun. Detectives followed up with a search warrant at Vatland’s residence where more evidence was located.

McArthur said Vatland was placed in jail where he was charged with multiple crimes resulting from each sale he is alleged to have made during the course of this investigation, as well as the items found when he was arrested. The incidents occurred at multiple different dates, times and locations around the Glide area. McArthur said some of the incidents occurred in close proximity to Glide area schools, though never on any school campuses, resulting in additional charges.

Vatland was charged with:

*5 counts each of unlawful possession and delivery of meth

*2 counts of unlawful delivery of meth within 1,000 feet of a school

*Unlawful manufacture of meth

*Unlawful possession of a firearm

*Unlawful possession/concealment of firearms

*Attempt to Commit a Class B Felony for delivery of meth

Vatland was detained on $50,000 bail.
