Roseburg Police charged a man with a restraining order violation on Friday.

An RPD report said the 43-year-old was contacted at 8:00 a.m. while he was already in jail on another matter. The suspect was a respondent in a restraining order with the victim being the petitioner. The man had allegedly written the victim a letter professing his love for her, while he was in jail.

The charge of violation of a restraining order was added due his charges. He remained detained and is now held on $5,000 bail.
