The future of the former Del Taco site in Roseburg appears to be in limbo.

The location in the 2400 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway burned in the early morning hours of July 2nd, 2022. The cause of the fire was officially classified as “undetermined” in September of that year by the Roseburg Fire Department. The building was later fully demolished.

City of Roseburg Community Development Director Stuart Cowie told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that a site review permit was issued in February of 2023. Cowie said the company never went through the process of moving forward with a building permit from the Douglas County Building Department.  Cowie said the previous site review approval the city issued has expired.

In response to an inquiry to Del Taco corporate communication’s staff, the reply received by KQEN simply said, “Thanks so much for reaching out. There are no updates on the location at this time”.

On Wednesday, the site remained fenced off with “no trespassing” signs in place. Two large Del Taco signs can be seen, one on each side of the property.
