The Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians contributed $700,000 this month to Josephine County organizations that improve the lives of children and families in the community.

The Tribe granted $250,000 to the Josephine County Library, $250,000 to the Friends of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Josephine County and provided a $200,000 zero-interest loan to the Home Bridging Project in Josephine County.

At the donation ceremony, Cow Creek Umpqua Tribal Chairman Carla Keene said, “It is our hope that these contributions will help provide these organizations with the stability and access to resources that they need to be beacons of hope and encouragement here in Josephine County”.

A release said the organizations were selected in part because of the Cow Creek Umpqua commitment to donating to charitable organizations throughout southern Oregon, the ancestral homelands of the Tribe.

In addition to donations that come directly from the Tribal Government, the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation donates twice per year to charitable organizations in six counties in the region. In January, the Foundation donated $61,160 to seven non-profits in Josephine County.
