Communities for Healthy Forests and other organizations will have a presentation on fuels and fire management in western Oregon forests on Thursday February 29th at 7:00 p.m. in the Jacoby Auditorium of Umpqua Community College.
The speaker will be Dr. John Bailey of Oregon State University. A CHF release said the presentation will focus on trends, causes and impacts of wildfire and management strategies for more fire resistant and resilient forests. Dr. Bailey is a Professor of Silviculture and Fire Management in the Department of Forest Engineering, Resources and Management at the OSU College of Forestry. He is the author or co-author of nearly 100 scholarly papers on various forest topics.
Along with CHF, co-sponsors include the Umpqua Chapter Society of American Foresters, Douglas County Small Woodland Owners Association and the UCC Forestry Club.
