The Oregon State University Extension Service and the Douglas County Master Gardener Program will offer an apple tree grafting workshop on March 22nd.
It will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the OSU Extension Service office auditorium on Southeast Douglas Avenue, just east of the courthouse.
The Extension release said during the hands-on workshop, participants will receive a tutorial on grafting apples onto dwarf rootstock. They will learn about scion wood, apple varieties and types of rootstock, and then will have the opportunity to graft scion wood to rootstock. There will be several varieties of apples to choose from when making trees. Attendees will take home apple trees that they grafted.
