A Myrtle Creek man was jailed for being a felon in possession of firearms, following an incident early Sunday.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at 4:15 a.m. a deputy was dispatched to a disturbance involving the victim and 29-year old Anthony Smith in the 100 block of Donald Terrace. The victim stated that Smith came home drunk and angry so she took out a knife in self-defense. Smith allegedly took the knife from her and pushed her into a dresser, causing a small goose-egg on her forehead.

Smith claimed the victim pulled the knife out and threatened him for no reason. Both parties said there were firearms in the house. Smith returned as a felon with a conviction in 2018. A deputy removed seven firearms from a safe in the home. Smith was detained for seven counts of the charge. He was detained without bail and was released on Monday.
