The City of Roseburg Fire Department has announced the hiring of new Deputy Fire Marshal Ben Simons.

Under the direction of Fire Marshal Flick, Simons will work in the Fire Prevention Division. Simons was welcomed to the department on January 16th.

Simons has received numerous certifications, from both Oregon and the International Code Council. He possesses a Fire Inspector 1 certification, has an Associate’s degree from Umpqua Community College and is currently working to complete his Bachelors in Business Administration through the University of Oregon. Prior to beginning his position with the Roseburg Fire Department, Simons worked for North Douglas Fire & EMS, serving as a Fire Prevention Specialist. Prior to that, he worked for Dexter Fire, while also continuing to volunteer at North Douglas Fire & EMS.

Simons also served as Mayor of Yoncalla from 2019 to 2021.
