A Washington State man was jailed following an alleged resisting and escape incident on Monday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 11:30 a.m. a deputy attempted to stop a man for disorderly conduct and offensive littering in the 500 block of John Long Road at Rice Hill. 32-year old Stephen Nelson from Kent reportedly began to run away from the deputy and was told he was under arrest. Another deputy chased Nelson on foot, while the first deputy chased the man in his patrol vehicle. The first deputy followed Nelson to a business across the street and exited his vehicle.

The report said the man tried to escape custody and enter the store. A taser was deployed and Nelson was taken into custody. Nelson was allegedly in possession of a machine gun and a short-barreled gun/rifle.

Nelson was charged with resisting arrest, third-degree escape, second-degree disorderly conduct, offensive littering, possession of a prohibited firearm and for obliterating or changing ID marks on a firearm. He was detained without bail.
