A Roseburg man was cited by Roseburg Police for false swearing on Monday evening.

An RPD report said officers were notified of a denied firearm application that occurred on November 14th. The 30-year old suspect had allegedly applied to purchase a handgun from a business in the 2800 block of Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard, but was denied due to a prior felony conviction. The man was contacted at around 9:00 p.m. and reportedly admitted to the attempted purchase.  The report said the man knew he was a convicted felon and admitted to lying on the background form in an attempt to purchase the firearm. He was released after the citation was issued.
