WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY THROUGH 8:00 P.M. WEDNESDAY

January 17, 2024 4:00 a.m.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through 8:00 p.m.Wednesday for mountain areas in southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said additional snow accumulations of 7 to 14 inches are expected. Winds gusting as high as 55 miles per hour will lead to blowing snow, causing reduced visibility.

The Advisory area includes the Cascade mountains from Highway 140 north. This includes areas around Willamette Pass, Diamond Lake, Crater Lake and Lake of the Woods. Snow is expected across portions of highways 140, 62, 230, 58 and 138.

Travel could be very difficult. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Gusty winds will bring down tree branches.

Drivers should slow down and allow extra time to reach their destination. Carry tire chains and be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities.
