January 13, 2024 12:50 p.m.

The Oregon Department of Transportation is reporting that extreme winter weather conditions are causing delays and intermittent closures on Interstate 5 over the Siskiyou Pass, north and southbound, as of 12:45 p.m. Saturday.

Chains are required on all vehicles excluding four-wheel drive and all-wheel drive vehicles, unless towing. Travel is not recommended at this time.

In the High Cascades passes, highways near Diamond Lake and Crater Lake are closed due to extreme winter weather conditions. This includes OR 62 between Prospect and Union Creek, OR 230 from Union Creek to the intersection with OR 138E. OR 138E between Diamond Lake Junction and U.S. 97.

ODOT says drivers should postpone travel on mountain passes until conditions improve. Check www.tripcheck.com for updates.
