Roseburg Police jailed two people following an alleged trespass incident on Thursday.
An RPD report said at 12:00 p.m. officers contacted the pair at a transient camp on the hillside behind the 1600 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard. A dog charged after an officer and a taser was deployed. The owner of the dog was identified as 36-year old Michael Valdez. Valdez attempted to place the dog on a lease and was bit in the process. He showed officers around his camp which was shared with Jessica Gater, also age 36.
Officers described the camp as extremely messy with mounds of accumulated trash. Both were taken into custody on charges of second-degree criminal trespass and offensive littering. Gater was also held for a probation violation while Valdez was cited for a dog leash law violation. Both were detained on $2,500 bail.
