WINSTON CREWS KEEP FIRE CONFINED TO LIVING ROOM

January 11, 2024 9:20 a.m.

Crews with the Winston-Dillard Fire District kept a home fire confined to the living room on Wednesday night.

Nick Wecks of the WDFD said just after 7:30 p.m. firefighters responded to the report of a small fire in the living room of the residence in the 200 block of Southeast Michael Lane in Winston. Wecks said first arriving units were met outside by the residents and found a fire burning in the room, next to the wood stove. Fire crews made a quick aggressive fire attack, limiting the size of the fire.

Wecks said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Three fire engines, one command unit, one ambulance and eleven fire personnel responded to the incident. The Winston-Dillard Fire District was assisted by Douglas County Fire District No. 2, Umpqua Valley Ambulance, the American Red Cross and Pacific Power.
