Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Yoncalla man on assault charges Saturday afternoon.

A DCSO report said at 4:45 p.m. dispatchers received a call from a victim regarding a physical disturbance between her and a 19-year old suspect. Deputies arrived on the scene and during this incident learned that another fight had allegedly taken place on December 24th. The victim showed a deputy photographs of her neck and bruises on her neck. The victim claimed the suspect chocked her out while stating “I am going to murder you”.

The deputy spoke to the suspect who reportedly admitted to the crimes. He was charged with 4th-degree assault and strangulation. The man was detained without bail.
