TRANSIENT JAILED FOR FAILURE TO REPORT AND RESISTING ARREST

January 6, 2024 10:40 a.m.

A transient was jailed by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office following an incident on Friday.

A DCSO report said just after 12:30 p.m. the 39-year old was contacted with an illegally parked camper in the 100 block of Industrial Drive in Green. After tagging the camper, the deputy knocked on the door. A man answered and the deputy learned that he had been living at the location for several weeks. He was a registered sex offender and had failed to report his new address.

After being told he was under arrest, the suspect reportedly collapsed to the ground and began wailing. While deputies were trying to handcuff the man, he allegedly became irate and started pulling away. Due to his actions, the suspect fell to the ground and deputies were eventually able to cuff him.

The man was charged with failure to report as a sex offender and for resisting arrest. He was detained without bail.
