A suspect in a New Year’s Day homicide in Salem was arrested in Roseburg on Wednesday.
A Roseburg Police report said 36-year old Julio Sanchez-Sanchez was located at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in the 800 block of West Stanton Street at 3:30 p.m. Sanchez-Sanchez was taken into custody on a temporary felony warrant for homicide out of the Salem Police Department.
An SPD report said the man is a suspect in the homicide of Ricardo Lopez-Cruz. The 29-year old victim died from a gunshot wound outside the La Leyenda night club at 3:15 a.m. on January 1st.
On January 2nd, 34-year old Guadalupe Ortiz Cervantes was taken into custody by the Woodburn Police on the charge of hindering prosecution in the case.
Thursday morning Sanchez-Sanchez was being transferred to the Marion County Jail on charges of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
