Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a reported burglary in the Canyonville area.

A DSCO report said on Christmas morning just after 10:00 a.m. a resident of the 100 block of Kimberly Way noticed that a neighbor’s residence appeared to have been broken into due to the back door being wide open. He and another neighbor went inside and noticed that house appeared to have been ransacked. The neighbor spoke to the owner, who was not at home. She advised that she had $ 2,000 in cash in a dresser draw.

A deputy investigated and noticed the house was still fully furnished and had several valuable items left behind. There were a few items of clothing on the ground but the home was not extremely messy for a burglary.

The case is pending follow up.
