Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed two people for an alleged theft incident early Christmas morning.
A DCSO report said on Sunday at 1:00 a.m. staff with the Oregon Department of Transportation contacted a deputy to advise him of a suspicious vehicle parked off the freeway at the north end of an auto wrecking business which is in the 200 block of Speedway Road in Green.
Deputies surveilled the location and located two people sneaking around, reportedly checking cars and staging stolen items near the edge of the property. 46-year old Robert Clark of Roseburg and 39-year old Petina Vance of Days Creek were taken into custody without incident. They reportedly admitted to being there in order to steal parts for the woman’s vehicle.
They had allegedly stolen four tires and wheels, and a speed sensor. Clark and Vance were charged with second-degree counts of theft and criminal trespass and for unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle. Both were detained without bail. Vance was released early Monday.
