An Oakland man was jailed following an alleged DUII incident early Sunday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just before 12:30 a.m. a caller said a truck had crashed in her front yard in the 700 block of Pioneer Way in Winchester, and was now attempting to leave.

The caller advised that the driver had crashed into her vehicle several times while trying to leave and was eventually successful. A deputy and medics arrived on the scene and stopped the truck as it was driving down Pioneer Way. The driver, 24-year old Russell Schulz was contacted and allegedly smelled of alcohol. Schulz admitted to drinking beer during the night but would not say how many. He was taken into custody without incident.

The victim’s vehicle had severe damage to the front, with an estimate of over $1,000 in damage. Schulz was transported to corrections where he reportedly refused standard field sobriety tests but gave a breath sample which allegedly showed a blood alcohol level of .23 percent, nearly three times the limit for intoxication.

Schulz was charged with DUII-alcohol, reckless driving, first-degree criminal mischief and a misdemeanor count of driving while suspended. He was detained without bail.
