POLICE TAKE JUVENILE INTO CUSTODY ON 11 CHARGES AFTER INCIDENTS

Roseburg Police took a runaway juvenile from Redmond into custody on 11 charges after an overnight incident early Thursday.

An RPD report said at 12:00 a.m. the 16-year old ran a red light and the pickup he was driving almost hit an officer while driving through the intersection of Southeast Douglas Avenue and Southeast Rose Street. A traffic stop was initiated, but the juvenile fled in the vehicle. He turned down Southeast Claire Street from Southeast Douglas. That street is a dead end and the teen was taken into custody without incident.

During the investigation, the juvenile was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Officers discovered the juvenile stole the alcohol from a liquor store in the 1300 block of Northeast Stephens Street after allegedly gaining entry to the building by breaking a window. Entry to Clint Newell Motors on Northeast Stephens was gained and the pickup was taken. While being taken into custody, the teen was allegedly found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl.

He was charged with first and second-degree counts of criminal mischief, second-degree counts of burglary, attempted burglary and theft, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, elude, driving under the influence of intoxicants, minor in possession of alcohol, and possession of fentanyl.

The teen was taken to Juvenile Detention.
