On Monday the City of Roseburg Homeless Commission voted to recommend that a city owned and supervised urban campground not go in the 500 block of Northeast Winchester Street near downtown.

A commission subcommittee had identified at least two potential locations, the site on Winchester and one in the 200 block of Northeast Ivan Street off Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard. More than a dozen residents and business owners provided input on the two proposed locations during the commission meeting at city hall. Most comments involved the Winchester Street site.

Following that input, the commission voted to take the Winchester Street site out of consideration. As an advisory body, the move is only a recommendation as the final decision will be made by the city council.
