MEDFORD WOMAN DIES IN PEDESTRIAN VERSUS SEMI-TRUCK ACCIDENT THURSDAY NIGHT

A Medford woman died in a pedestrian versus semi-truck accident  Thursday night.

An Oregon State Police report said shortly before 6:00 p.m. troopers responded to Interstate 5 southbound near milepost 75. That is near Wolf Creek a few miles south of the Douglas/Josephine County border.

The preliminary investigation indicated the victim, 62-year old Tami Lee was operating a vehicle and is believed to have struck an animal and exited the vehicle to check on the animal. Lee was then hit by the commercial motor vehicle while standing in the slow lane.

Lee was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck cooperated with the investigation.

The freeway was impacted for approximately one hour.

OSP was assisted by Wolf Creek Fire, Rural Metro Fire and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
