A Roseburg woman died after she was struck by a vehicle early Thursday.

Lieutenant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said shortly before 4:30 a.m. 911 dispatchers received a report of the vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Northeast Stephens Street near Strauss Avenue in the Winchester area.

O’Dell said deputies arrived on the scene to discover a female lying in the roadway who had suffered fatal injuries. She was identified as 39-year old Cody Ann Jackson.

Deputies learned that Jackson had been walking in the northbound lane when she was struck by a northbound SUV operated by a Roseburg man. He was cooperative throughout the investigation.

O’Dell said the incident remains under investigation. Criminal charges are not expected. DCSO was assisted by Douglas County Fire District #2 and the Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office.
