A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through 4:00 a.m. Friday above 3,500 feet in the mountain areas of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said additional snow accumulations of 8 to 10 inches is expected across the Siskiyous with 12 to 18 inches forecast in the Cascades. Winds will gust as high as 40 miles per hour.

The Advisory area is for the south central and southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains. This includes Crater Lake, Diamond Lake, Lake of the Woods, Mt. Ashland Ski Resort and highways 138, 62, 230 and 140.

Forecasters said travel could be very difficult. There is a 70 to 90 percent chance of snowfall rates reaching 1 inch per hour into early afternoon.

Drivers should slow down and allow extra time to reach their destination. Carry tire chains and be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities.
