On Wednesday, City of Reedsport staff was contacted regarding a sewage spill from a manhole near the 1400 block of Highway 101.

Deputy City Recorder Christina Crockett said that Wastewater staff investigated and determined that a spill of approximately 3,000 gallons of raw sewage had indeed taken place. Crockett said the issue was determined to be a storm-related event. The spill potentially reached Scofield Creek.

City staff cleaned the area and then posted signage as required for a minimum of 24 hours. Crockett said the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality was immediately notified of the incident.
