Wildlife Safari has announced the kickoff of “The Barnyard Project”, which is a transformative renovation to the children’s zoo in the Wildlife Safari Village.

Public Relations Manager Taylor Holeman said the innovative design is set to redefine the guest experience, offering a more interactive and engaging environment for visitors of all ages.

A release said the highlight of “The Barnyard” is the expansion that allows guests to step into the yard and interact firsthand with the children’s zoo animals, including friendly goats and sheep. The immersive experience aims to create lasting memories and foster a deeper connection between visitors and the animal residents. As part of the renovation, Wildlife Safari will be introducing new exhibits, including a barn owl house. The educational opportunities within the zoo will be designed to provide a captivating experience for both children and adults alike.

Holeman said while construction is underway, a portion of the village will be temporarily blocked off to ensure safety.

In addition to the interactive enhancements, Wildlife Safari is constructing a modern kitchen facility dedicated to the preparation of well-balanced diets for the diverse range of animals. The new facility will support the well-being and health of the park’s residents, ensuring they receive the best care possible.

The release said the project represents a significant investment of over $350,000, made possible through the support of the community. 123 families contributed to the project. In addition, support has been received from a number of organizations, including the M.J. Murdock Trust, The Ford Family Foundation and the City of Roseburg.

Holeman said substantial in-kind donations have been made by the Dillard Sawmill and Riddle Engineered Wood, both part of Roseburg Forests Products.

Residents are encouraged to watch the progress of the project and stay tuned for updates.
