A homicide suspect is in custody in Redding, California, over a week after fleeing the scene of the crime in Riddle.

Lieutenant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, DCSO was notified that the Shasta County California Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the United States Marshal’s Office, had taken 19-year old Gauge Douglas James Main of Riddle, into custody. O’Dell said Main was located at a residence in Redding. Main had reportedly stolen a silver 2017 Honda Civic 4-door sedan following the homicide. The vehicle was recovered in Redding last week.

O’Dell said Main is suspected of killing 20-year old Devonte Lovell of Grants Pass and injuring another man in a shooting incident. A felony warrant had been issued for his arrest for homicide. Sheriff John Hanlin had requested the assistance of the United States Marshal’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Team in locating Main.

Main has been booked into the Shasta County Jail.
