Sutherlin Police jailed a man after he allegedly assaulted a public safety officer on Sunday.

An SPD report said at about 10:50 a.m. 25-year old Shane Morris was called in as being suspicious in the 200 block of Emerald Street. When contacted, Morris reportedly gave false information. When an officer attempted to detain him, Morris reportedly resisted, causing an injury to another officer. It was later discovered that he had a warrant for his arrest.

Morris was charged with assaulting a public safety officer, giving false information to a police officer, resisting arrest and for the warrant. He was detained on $5,000 bail.
