Sutherlin Police jailed a man after a reported no-contact order violation Monday night.

An SPD report said at 11:20 p.m. the 59-year old contacted the victim first by text and then in person in the 600 block of East Central Avenue. This caused a disturbance with the victim reporting she was scared for her safety. The victim ultimately pepper sprayed the man, who retreated to a relative’s residence, where he lives.

The suspect was contacted later and taken into custody. He was charged with violation of a release agreement and for fourth-degree assault. Bail was set at $5,000.
