Winston Police jailed two women for an alleged child neglect incident Friday night.
Sergeant Mike Miller said at about 11:00 p.m. Caressa Faulkner and Amy Coombs, both age 33, reportedly left a 3-year old and a 1-year old child inside Coombs vehicle for at least a half hour while they drank and gambled inside a business on Southeast Main Street.
Miller said Faulkner reportedly tried to strike a customer inside the bar after she was confronted for allegedly stealing a phone and ended up hitting another customer. Coombs reportedly interfered with the investigation and was detained after several warnings.
The report said both females were visibly intoxicated and could barely stand. A family member ultimately took custody of the children and both women were taken to Corrections. Faulkner and Coombs were both charged with two counts each of disorderly conduct and child neglect. Coombs was also detained for interfering with a police officer. Coombes was held for $21,250 bail while Faulkner was detained on $15,000 bail.
