The Roseburg City Council has a busy agenda for its Monday night meeting.

Councilors will consider an intergovernmental agreement with Umpqua Community College for the Southern Oregon Medical Workforce Center. Work to develop a medical college in the Roseburg area began in 2012. For the past several years, city staff has worked with community partners, including the Umpqua Valley Development Corporation, to get the school going. Due to a variety of factors, including expected state funding that was eliminated during the pandemic, the project has seen a number of hiccups.

UCC has committed to deliver ten new medical workforce programs in the next five years. The college is programmed to receive $8 million in state grant funding for a new or expanded space to deliver these programs. In addition, $2 million in federal funding has been programmed to purchase lab equipment.

Staff now believes that combining forces with UCC will better achieve the goal and make the vision a reality.

The council will vote on a bid award recommendation for standby power at the Roseburg Regional Airport. They will vote on the city managers report regarding the emergency purchase of two pickups for the Parks Department.

The council will consider a resolution to support the repeal or changes to Measure 110.
