FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR SMITH RIVER COMPLEX BURN SCAR THROUGH 5:00 P.M. SATURDAY

November 4, 2023 6:20 a.m.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through Saturday at 5:00 p.m. for the Smith River Complex Burn Scar in parts of southwestern Josephine County and Southeastern Curry County.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said moderate to heavy rainfall is expected. There is a low probability that this heavy rainfall could trigger flash flooding and/or debris flows on the Oregon side of the Smith River Complex. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris.

Heavy rainfall ranging from 2 to 3 inches over 24 hours is expected. Higher rainfall rates will increase the threat.

Residents should be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
