A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through 9:00 p.m. Wednesday for mountain areas in southern Oregon above 4,000 feet.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said wet snow is expected down to 3,500 feet. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches at elevations between 4,000 and 5,000 feet with 4 to 10 inches of snow above 5,000 feet are forecast. Southwest to west winds are expected to gust at 20 to 40 miles per hour over exposed terrain.

The Advisory area includes the south central and southern Oregon Cascades and the Siskiyou Mountains. This applies to Crater Lake, Diamond Lake, Willamette Pass and Lake of the Woods. Portions of highways 140, 62, 230, 138 and 58 are also under the Advisory.

Forecasters said drivers should plan on difficult travel conditions with colder temperatures behind the snow late Wednesday night. Motorists should slow down and allow extra time to reach their destination. Carry tire chains and be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities.
